For years gone by, Um Mansoor delighted her local community with delicious, freshly baked Khameer. After years of love and devotion to refining her craft, her son Mansoor decided to create a food concept using his mother’s traditional recipe. Mansoor worked restlessly to develop an exciting, cosmopolitan evolution of Khameer to create the best tasting Khameer’s in town.
And so Khameer & Dough was born!
Recognising the influence of food in connecting people socially and emotionally, we serve exceptional sweet and savoury Khameer to a diverse local and global community in the UAE. Khameer has been revitalized for today’s fast-moving consumer with a passion for food. We are a progressive concept but our roots are firmly grounded by the traditional practices of Emirati cuisine and the guidance of Um Mansoor, who inspired us to make it happen.
Khameer is a popular traditional Emirati staple snack that almost looks like a hybrid between a donut and a burger bun. It is commonly found on the dining table of Emirati families, and is often eaten plain, or dipped in honey or cheese.
”Traditionally, Khameer is made by mixing the dough with a specific type of fish juice for flavoring. At Khameer & Dough, we asked ourselves, why can’t we use other elements to flavor the dough? And so Khameer & Dough was born. Our promise is to always maintain the cooking and preparation process of the traditional Khameer, but also offer an interesting and appealing variety of flavorings beyond just fish juice”.
