If you are looking for an authentic Indonesian experience, Betawi is the right place to be. The contemporary interiors and cordial staff, will offer you a serene and elegant dining experience. Its a freindly budget place finished with wooden furniture, lovely postures and the spectacular view of the JLT waterways.
We tried a different variety of Indonesian cuisine, all authentic an delicious.
To start with I was served Coconut Water, it was all fresh and served the most traditional way.
Soto Betawi, a traditional Betawi Soup made of coconut based soup served with diced Chicken, Cabbage and Steam Rice. The coconuty flavor added so much to the character of the soup tasted so very authentic and delightful.
Satay Ayam, Chicken in Skewers with a Peanut Sauce. It was all juicy, delicious and so very tender. The sweetness of the satays were just what you want on a chill wintry day.
Nasi Goreng, authentic Indonesian fried rice mixed with Chicken, Vegetables, Egg and Cracker on the side. This ones my favorite, as it was perfectly done with all the ingredients mingling deliciously in my mouth.
Bihun Goreng, fried rice noodles mixed with Chicken, Egg, Vegetable and Sweet Soya.
Dadar Gulung is one of the popular snacks in Indonesia, especially in Java. In Indonesian, dadar literally means “omelette” or “pancake” while gulung means “to roll”. Usually the pancake has green-coloured which acquired from daun suji or pandan leaves. It is a green-coloured folded omelette or pancake made of rice flour, filled with grated coconut and palm sugar.
Overall it was an amazing experience as I have not tasted any Indonesian cuisine and I am in love with this place.
