The Express Daily restaurant is the pioneering new approach providing the same legendary taste and service, but with an up market ambiance which is evident in the little subtleties.Sometimes the fancy places, all gastronomies, fine dining has to be set apart and head on to places where we know what DHABA style food is, TRULY DESI!TRULY TRADITIONAL!! Serving authentic Pakistani / Indian cuisine, house specialties include Nihari, large selection of BBQ, biryani and a range of curries.
I had an amazing Saturday lunch with lots of traditional dishes hand picked by the Chef from Pakistan.
To start with we i was served fresh Orange Juice, very refreshing and soothing.
For the Starters we were served a plate of Kebab Platter which had delectable bites of Chicken Seekh Kebab, Mutton Seekh Kebab, Chicken Boneless Boti, Chicken Malai Boti and Chicken Tikka. The Kebabs from the kitchen of Daily Express were tender, succulent and delicious. It melted in my mouth and the spices used are infused till the last bite.
With this kebab delicacies we were server traditional Pakistani Tandoori Roti, fresh and hot from the oven.
Chicken Dum Biryani, prepared with chicken marinated with spices overnight and then soaked in yogurt before cooking. The chicken is sandwiched between layers of fragrant long-grained basmati rice, and cooked on dum (steaming over coals), after sealing the handi (vessel) with dough. It was light, full of texture, left a flavorful aroma along with it and you wont get the heavy feeling after having this, for me that was the best feature of it.
Mutton Paya,It is slow cooked on low heat for hours (usually overnight) on the stove. Historically, when people used wood or coal as a cooking fuel, women would start this dish at night and slow cook it in the coals until the morning. This dish has a soup-like consistency and is usually eaten as a breakfast food in the winter months with naan. This place has got the best Payas in town, only Thursdays they serve Beef Paya but on all other days you should definitely try their Mutton one.
Chicken Peshawari, Pakistani dishes are known for having aromatic and sometimes spicy flavors, and some dishes often contain liberal amounts of oil, which contributes to a richer, fuller mouth feel and flavor. Same goes with this dish, traditionally cooked with the best spices, at this point of time i should totally forget about my calories intake with this rich and delicious delicacy.
Zafrani Kheer, Kheer is a rice pudding made by boiling rice, broken wheat, tapioca, or vermicelli with milk and sugar; it is flavored with cardamom, raisins, saffron, cashews, pistachios or almonds. Here at Daily Express the kheer is soaked in Saffron so you get that delightful flavor, aroma and the deliciousness.
We had to end our meal with a Kadak Tea, fully refreshed and in happy with my lunch.
Overall it was an amazing experience and our host Mr.Ali was a cheerful and passionate foodie by heart, he knows to impress his customers with his smile and the knowledge of the Desi food.
