Shayan restaurant combines the best of two ancient cuisines with a contemporary modern setting. Elegant fittings and luxurious interiors combine with the succulent taste of Persia & the Mediterranean Lebanese flare. The restaurant features a live naan bread oven inside the restaurant and guests can watch their every meal prepared by our specialist chefs. The restaurant offers a separate semi-private dining area, several cozy seating booths and large communal tables for larger groups. The decor shouts out loud about its elegancy, traditions and the delicious food on board. Located on the third floor of Al Ghurair Rayhaan by Rotana, Shayan is a place to must visit.
I was the lucky one to get invited for the launch of the ONE METER KEBAB by the Chef’s expert. As an invitee with among all the media, press and bloggers, the Kebab made our evening delightful.
To start of with we were served Cold Mezzes and Salads from the Persian Gulf and here goes my list of favorites.
As a welcome drink i was served Doogh, an Iranian drink made with Yogurt, Labneh, Dry Mint and White Pepper. What a refreshing way to start of with the first ever launched ONE METER KEBAB at Shayan.
Fresh Cut Salads swerved with Zaitoon and Mint Yogurt. A kick way start from the cold mezze section, so its just the beginning, sit and relax.
Hummus, food dip or spread made from cooked, mashed chickpeas or other beans, blended with tahini, olive oil, lemon juice, salt and garlic.
Borani Esfenaj, thick yougurst with spinach and spices. A delicious and healthy, perfectly goes with Arabic bread.
Fattoush is a Levantine bread salad made from toasted or fried pieces of pita bread combined with mixed greens and other vegetables, such as radishes and tomatoes. Fattoush belongs to the family of dishes known as fattat (plural) or fatta, which use stale flatbread as a base.
Fattoush includes vegetables and herbs according to season and taste. The vegetables are cut into relatively large pieces Staghorn sumac is usually used to give fattoush its sour taste.
Kashk E Bademjan, fried eggplant mixed with aged yogurt and seasoned with traditional spices. One of my favorites from the evening,i have never tastes such a delicacy before and the eggplant perfectly done with all the other mixes.
Meat Kibbeh, is a Levantine dish made of bulgur (cracked wheat), minced onions, and finely ground lean beef, lamb, goat or camel meat with Middle-Eastern spices (cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, allspice). The best-known variety is a torpedo-shaped fried croquette stuffed with cooked minced beef or lamb with onion and sautéed pine nuts.
Now here comes the hit of the show, ONE METER KEBAB done with Chicken Shish Raouk, Lamb Kofta and Beef Cubes. The meat served were so succulent and tender that it melted inside my mouth. Laid on an Arabic Bread with French Fries, Chili Grilled, Vegetables Grilled and Garlic soaked in Vinegar. A delicious treat to oneself.
Starting from AED 139*, don’t miss the Meter Kebabs selection serving Shayan’s finest Joojeh Kebab, mouthwatering Lebanese and Iranian Grills and succulent Lamb Bonanza.
As favorite part is always the Desserts, this place had some real delicacies starting from Umm Ali to fine pasty, Lougamat, Chocolate Cake etc. It was sweet bites of happiness in my mouth.
Overall it was an amazing experience amidst the cuisines from Persian Gulf, such authenticity, delicacy and elegancy can be felt only from this gorgeous place Shayan. I go a nice picture perfect image with the Head Chef and the Managing Chef’s from the restaurant, all thanks to Maria the lady behind the success of the event and the director herself.
