I was invited with a a couple of other bloggers, thanks to Sneha and Javeria for this delicious Punjabi journey with deliciousness and richness in its food. I was welcomed with a warm smile by the Franchise owner, and he explained and took me to a journey from 1960 to latest, wow what a terrific sojourn for the entire Chawla family, hats off to them. The interiors all decked up with the mood, the desi touch with modern traditional bulbs hanging from ceilings, antiques from India place d and delightful Punjabi songs to capture our mood with the delicious food on.
When you are at a Punjabi restaurant you cannot miss the Lassi, it will be an incomplete meal. This place serves the most refreshing and delicious lassi with pistachios on. very thick, very creamy and so fresh.
For a start up meal we were served Papad with a mint and tamarind chutney.
Now to start with the starters we were served the most sellers and the signature ones. To name a few, Chicken Malai Tikka, chicken coated with cream and cheese, cooked in clay oven. The spices infused till the last bite, delicious bites of happiness, the meat all soft and tender.
Chicken Lasooni Tikka, marinated cream and garlic paste.
The Fish Irani,Haryali Paneer, Tandoori Aloo, Tandoori Mushroom all were delectable bites, a must try out in Chawlas2.
My favorite, Peshwari Tikka, popular delicacy of Peshawar with tender chicken pieces marinated in yogurt, flavoured with Indian spices and cooked to perfection in clay oven. The spiceness was instant and all spice lovers you will love this dish. The spices infused till the last bones.
Imagine if the starters were so delicious the main course was a more hit too.
We were served the secret recipe, the most bestseller, the signature and the traditional dish from where Chawlas was born the Cream Chicken. Cooked in milk and cream with Chawlas secret spice recipe. The most delicious i have ever tasted, tender meat, succulent, spices infused till the last bite. Creamy.thick and so delectable spread.
Chana Masala, chickpeas boiled and cooked in thick tomato and masala gravy.
Tomato Cream Paneer, Chicken Rara, Mutton Rogan Josh, Mushroom Taka Tak, all delicious and luscious. The must tr ons are Chicken Rara and Tomato Cream Paneer.
Dal Makhani, black lentil cooked in tomato and butter gravy, a must have traditional Punjabi dish.
We were served fresh and hot Rumali Roti wrapped in foil to keep warm. Lachcha Paratha, Missi Roti, Butter naan and Roti all were fresh and hot straight from the kitchen of Chawlas.
Now here comes my best part the Desserts. And a Punjabi desserts are always so very special to me.
Guab Jamun, a favorite sweet of deep fried khoya dumpling in sugar syrup.
Kheer Kesari, another favorite of Punjab, a creamy Indian rice pudding with milk and flavored with cardamon and kesar.
Moong Dal Halwa, an aroamtic dessert made with yellow split lentil and ghee and flavored with cardamon.
It was a delicious journey with some good people and a beautiful ambience across JLT lake.
