Shahi Paratha Roll is a desi street food concept restaurant, specializing in BBQ Paratha Roll (Kati Roll) & Bun Kabab (Pav). My food blogging journey got an invite to try out this deliciously unique outlet in International City.
The comfy red leather seating, the bright yellow on the walls, beautiful artifacts on black shelves and depiction of bottles of spices were enough to win me over. Two flat screen LED are placed and we got to enjoy the finals of T20 cricket with some delicious food on. The price is totally budget free so you can order as much as you can.
The place offers both indoor and outdoor seating and the best part is you can park and leave your car in the front of the outlet and the restaurant takes care of it.
The owner so much of a passionate foodie showed me around the place and i love the small vegetable garden he planted in small tubs with chillies. bell pepper, gulf tomatoes and cherry tomatoes on it. The warm hospitality and the service was my steal of the show as it was terrific.
To start with the food we were served Meethi Puri and Chana Papri Chat.
The Meethi Puri reminded of me of my college days when in off we use to grab does pani puris from the local stalls, it gave a very sweet and tangy taste, inspite of not served with the regular Imli water the curd played a very good trick in it.
The Chana Papri Chat was way too good, the tangy, sweet and a hint of spiciness with a hint of mint to it added so much to the chaat.
We were served Shami Bun Kabab, minced beef mixed with lentils and spices blended and pan fried served with a mint chutney. The juicy and tender meat can be felt on every bite, and i can hear people placing orders on phone for Shami Kabab a lot.
The Honey Soy Wings were my favorite, wings glazed in honey and soy sauce garnished with sesame seeds. The delicious and juicy wings were too difficult to resist. Love the presentation and the taste still lingers on my mouth.
Then comes the Shahi Chutneys, beautifully decorated in one plate. The plate had :
- Golden Aloo Bukhara – Aloo Bukhara based sweet chutney
- Podina Raita – Yogurt blended with green herbs and toasted cumin
- Dhania Podina – Dhania and Podina Chutney blended with tamarind and green chili
- Lal Mirch Lehsan – Fiery hot red chutney made with Kashmiri Chili pepper and garlic
- Khatti Imli – Tamarind based sweet and sour chutney
- Tomato Garlic Sauce – Mandi style tomato and garlic puree
What a taste and my personal hit was Aloo Bukhara, a must try out chutney in this joint.
We were served the place most hit dish, the BBQ Rolls & Platter, we asked to serve as a platter instead of rolls. The platter consists of :
- Tikka Boti – Boneless Chicken breast cubes grilled with creamy tikka sauce
- Malai Boti – Chicken cubes in a light blend of spices grilled on skewers
- Seekh Kabab – Minced Mutton grilled with traditional blend of spices
- Bihari Boti – Beef steak tendered with yogurt and spices and grilled.
The juicy, tender and mild spicy meat can be felt on every bite, my personal hit was the Bihari Boti so well prepared and the taste so delicious yet unique. It was served with French Fries and salads.
The platter was served with a very soft and house made Bread, which was perfect even if you order your BBQ’s on a roll. Infact I must say one of the best breads ever tasted by me.
As i always have space for dessert, and the Rice Kheer came in an earthen pot which enhanced the flavor even more to it.
I ordered Shahi Kahwah, kahwa is an aromatic green tea beverage prepared with ginger, lemon and mint. It was so refreshing and soothing after a delicious meal .
Thus small cozy joint made me fall in love with BBQ even more now, the place has got everything house made from chutneys to the bread. The ambiance is lovely and so is the food. I would definitely love to come back soon again. A big thank you to the entire team of Shahi Paratha for having me there.
