‘Makani’, which means ‘my place’ in Arabic. This lovely open-air restaurant is the perfect place to enjoy a quiet evening under the stars and relish the best in traditional Arabic food. Chef prepares a traditional Falafel, Manakeesh or Mixed Grilled while you sit back and relax with warm tea and shisha with some live music on.
The Arabic food with the most delicious delicacies were served to us on separate sections. Starting with the fresh juice Avocado and Orange. So freshly prepared with the finest fruits and the refreshing element added so much to the juices.
Starting of with the Cold Mezze we were served Hummus, Moutabel, Tabouleh, and Fattoush . All were beautifully presented and served in printed bowls, the taste delicious and the cold mezzes were were served with Arabic breads and it went very well with it.
The Hot Mezzes were equally very tasty and delicious and beautifully served. The best part of Arabic food is very healthy and delicious and you can really eat a lot. We were served Cheese Spring Rolls, Fatayer with Minced Lamb and Fatayer with Spinach.
Our main course was The Mix Grill which comprised of Shish Tawouk, Lamb Chops, Kofta Kabab, Beef Kabab and Spicy Sausages. The meat were so tender and juicy and every bite of it was delectable yet so enjoyable. The smoked grilled can be felt by the aroma and taste as well.
After a luscious dinner we were served Moroccan Tea (Maghrebi mint tea Moroccan, Tuareg, Algerian,Tunisian, or Libyan mint tea, is a green tea prepared with spearmint leaves and sugar). It is poured into glasses from high above to swirl loose tea leaves to the bottom of the glass, whilst gently aerating the tea to improve its flavor. So fresh and so soothing.Served in traditional tea pots and glasses from Morocco giving us the feeling of its culture so beautifully mingled with the modern era.
For Desserts there was freshly cut juicy and delectable fruits on plate. A good and healthy way to end your dinner on.
Um Ali “This Egyptian dessert contains phyllo dough or puff pastry, milk and nuts. Very delicious yet very hot, and Makani serves one of the best UmAli in town.
Overall Makani Cafe was a hit with the food, the ambiance, the shisha and the live music adds so much to the place where people enjoys food and celebrates life with it.
