The ambiance of the place in Dragon Mart 2, International City, recently opened shouted out loud about Indian heritage and culture in a modernized version. The walls depicting pictures from Indian artifacts, the cozy and comfy leather chairs, the bright and vibrant colors of the paints, the beautifully curtained rooms for family to enjoy their special occasions, a charming and elegant space for a huge crowd, the selfie station in bright yellow is just enough to win you over. The outdoor seating with alluring green and yellow seating’s are placed so spaciously for a mall view with some delicious delicacies on.
We were served Potato Wafers, Papad with Mint Chutney and Papaya Ralish in a beautiful black tableware with 2 bows to hold the chutney and the ralish on, so beautiful yet so delicious.
The papaya ralish was a worth try, fine slices of papayas wwith a hint of sweet and sour taste to it, perfect to go with any dish you order. My personal hit!!
Remember when we were in schools and in recess time we use to eat slice guavas in red chilli and salt sprinkles from the local chaat, the Peru Pyala drink here serves you the same purpose and makes you feel nostalgic about your childhood days.
Peru Pyala, the signature guava juice with lemon and a hint of mint syrup, served in a cocktail glass rimmed with red hot chilli. So refreshing and the hint of the chilli with the guava was just amazing, one should never miss these drink!!
My hubby tried the Massakali, light and creamy sweet yogurt with rose extract.Beautifully served in a cute little jar with the lid on,, the white and a line of pink rose extract to it added so much to the character of the drink, this drink has got some real freshness to it and some soothing experience!!
For starters we tried The Yellow Chilli Mixed grill, from the left Fish Tikka, Tandoori based Prawns, Murgh Anar Bedgi (red chilli), Lemongrass Chicken Tikka and Sheekh Kabab in Pudina (mint).
The freshness of the meat and the fish can be felt on every bite, so delicious and so appealing to the eyes. Each and every taste was unique in its own way, garnished with onions, lemon and green herbs and served in a black slate. In one go you got to try the different starter specialty by the Chefs own creativeness and passion for food to it!!
We ordered one more round of drink to go best with our dishes.
Masala Mint Cooler my hubbys choice, fizzy and sweet mint flavored drink with a little 7up added on request. Served in beautiful mason jars, this bad boy too was so refreshing and soothing. Garnished with saunf (fennel seeds) which added a divine flavor to the drink.
My order was the Jal Jeera, a tangy appetizing drink with fresh lemon and amchur with a little soda dded to it on my request. So refreshing and so perfect with the Desi Indian Cuisine.
For the bread section to go best with our gravies we ordered Tandoori Roti, Peshwari Naan and Basil Butter Naan.
The rotis and parathas were soft, moist and tender. So perfectly done and goes best with all the curries in the menu.
The Peshwari Naan, naan flecked with fennel, pistachio and black sesame.
The Basil Butter Naan, generous amount of butter to it and the basil flecked was so crisp and soft.
We ordered one of the legendary dishes, as this was prepared by Master Chef Sanjeev Kapoor for the very first on Khana Khazana show.
Shaam Savera, the signature creation spinach koftas filled with creamy cottage cheese, served on a velvety tomato butter gravy. The first look of it was WOW fro me, the perfect that it could be, after trying i am thinking of going VEG for a while. Served in a beautiful tableware where the first impression is enough to win me over.
The Prawn Kurkuri Kadai, plump crispy prawns in a bed of tangy and spicy thick gravy, goes very well with the breads we ordered. Served again in a beautifully lid pot, the tableware selected so perfectly for every dish which steals the show by the very first look.
The perfect Dal Makhani ever tasted by me, the Lalla Mussa Dal. A blend of black and green lentils in their signature style, the ghee flavored, the thick creamy dal, no words to express the taste as it was so delicious and delicious and delicious!! Again served in pot pan to give us the desi look to it.
As i always have space for dessert, how can i say no to it.
The signature dessert, Gulab-E-Gulkand, new avtar of the traditional gulab jamun soft, condensed milk balls stuffed with candied rose petals. So delicious and so appealing. Served in a hole plate holding the perfect size gulab jamun and the stuffing was way to out of the box. The deliciously done and presented is a must try out in The Yellow Chilli.
My next dessert was Zauk-E-Shahi, the taste from India, mini gulab jamuns served with rabdi and crispy sweetened bread, sprinkled with pistachios. This cold dessert was another master piece by the place. Served in a cocktail glass, look at the vivacious yellow and red color of it. So delicious yet so throwback to my college memories.
How can i forget the beautiful tableware used to serve even the pickles, onions and mint chutneys, the side dishes too gets a fashion labelled to it. Beautifully placed mint chutney and pickle on a tea pot to pour the chutney and jar to grab with the spoon done in black and the traditional old coal iron tableware is where the red onions are served. So traditional yet so tempting!!
This place has got my favorite Cutting Chai back on my days as a student when i use to sometimes take the train to travel home. The memories just flashed by as the same tradition is followed, Shankar the most hospitable guy brings the Cutting Chai same as on the trains back in India. The tea is the typical desi taste, a life savor as i found my tea from my land India!!
Overall it was an amazing experience with some delicious food, great hospitality, beautiful ambiance and how can i miss the fashionable tableware. Their are 3 outlets in UAE, International City, Jumeirah Lake Towers and Al Naeem Mall, Ras Al Khaimah. Go grab some of those bad boys handpicked by the Master Chef Sanjeev Kapoor himself.
