My food blogging has taken me to write about high end posh restaurants to some luxurious fine dining, but with times often we miss to write about those places when at the crisis of not having anything at home, just dial a number to one or two particular places as my regulars.Red pepper has always help me on those days when i am bored of cooking,or there is nothing left at home or sometimes without any reason.Pegged in Al Qusais not so poshy ambiance, nor sophisticated staff but only the pocket friendly food is what matters here with the taste of Malabar (Southern India),mostly done with curry leaves and coconut and you get the hint of chilly and the famous malabari paste curry in most dishes.
Simple decor with huge sitting arrangements, fishes on display on glass racks all in Malabari paste, balloons hanging from the ceiling,a beautiful outdoor seating with nature, display menus outside with the day specialties, quick service.Rather a busy running restaurant in the heart of Qusais to dine i or take away or get it delivered. It has always been my regular due to the malabari paste, the Eco friendly menu and the chinese dishes with an Indo style. So this is what Red pepper all about.
Now i have tasted a quite amount of dish over here,so will be jotting down my favorites and my regulars too.Dine is always fun here as you get a complimentary drink which changes every day from lemon mint to pomegranate to lemon juice to fresh juice, its always fresh and refreshing.refreshing. In fact i must say a good start for a meal.I had the pleasur of tasting the Red Grape Juice and Lemon Juice over here.
A plate of freshly cut Salads are always complimentary here in Red Pepper.Lettuce, onions, carrots, cucumbers very refreshing and fresh.
This you should definitely give a try,the Natholi Fish Fry,its a small fish fried with reddish brown giving you the crispier yet tasty flavor.Very delectable served with carrots and onions for garnishing and a pinch of lemon just adds so much to the dish of fish fry.Placed on banana leaves to give the authentic look and flavor from South of India.
The Chilly Chicken Dry is my hit always,so spicy and the fusion of Indo Chinese is very delectable. The pinch of soy sauce and garlic can be felt on every bite of it.Comes in very big portion and i bet you will love this Chinese flavored dish.Perfectly done with cubes of onions, pepper, onion leaves and perfectly blend with corn starch. So delectable yet so pocket friendly.
I love the Tandoori Rotis over here, crispier from outside but soft and tender when we bite it,Freshly prepared from the kitchen.Even the deliveries remain hot and soft for a longer period of time then expected.
The Egg Roast Curry often done with the Malabari paste gives you the hint of curry leaves and coconut in it,beautifully done with tomatoes and chilies. The gravy is thick and rich and a perfect combination to go with the hot crispy rotis straight from the kitchen.
The Dal Fry is my favorite, very thick and very rich.Often i order with roti or rice. Its a mixture of five dals (lentils),perfectly done with tomatoes and chilies. The masala or the spices used are perfect and gives us a bit of spicy taste to it.
This ones my hit,the Crab Curry in am malabari paste curry, very spicy yet very delectable. You get to taste those crab pieces in big portion with lots of spices to it giving us the most rich, thick and delicious crab curry.Comes in big portion with 5 to six crabs, and the meat very fleshy and tender, cooked very well and perfectly mixed with all the spices and curry paste.Goes perfectly with a bowl of rice.
The Chicken Nadan, not added in the menu yet is another regular for me now,you get the hint of curry leaves in big portion, cooked with spices from the southern part of India giving us the traditional malabari chicken dish.Very thick and the gravy is good with roti or a bowl of rice.
As this is my regular you will see more updates on it with time totime. It has got 4 branches at Qusais,Satwa,Hor Al Anz and Karama. If you want a pocket friendly malabari restaurant then this is a good option sometimes.
